This Privacy Policy explains how 5th House Ventures LLC ("Doggy Dharma," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Doggy Dharma mobile application (the "App"). It also covers our website at www.doggydharma.com.
Doggy Dharma is intended for users in the United States. By using the App, you consent to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
Account information
Email address — for authentication and account recovery
Username — chosen by you
User ID — automatically generated
If you sign up with Google or Apple, we receive basic account information from those providers, via AWS Cognito, to authenticate you
Owner profile data
Name — required
Birth date — required; used to generate astrological content and owner–dog compatibility insights
City — required (via location search); used for compatibility insights
Birth time — optional
Dog profile data
Dog name (required), and breed, size, age, sex, and personality trait (optional)
Personality quiz responses — up to 25 answers used to determine your dog's astrological signs
Optional photos you upload
Usage and technical data
Device information (type, OS, app version)
App usage and event data (features used, frequency)
Crash and error logs
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
Provide the service — generate astrological charts, identity reveals, daily horoscopes, compatibility results, and other personalized dynamic content for you and your dog, and operate core app functionality.
App analytics to improve the App — analyze usage and stability data to fix bugs, improve performance, and develop features.
Marketing and advertising, including user acquisition — we use certain data to build and target advertising audiences and run campaigns to acquire new users. This is a distinct purpose from the app-improvement analytics above.
Communication — send service-related messages about your account and the App. If you opt in on our website (doggydharma.com), we also send marketing and promotional email; you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails.
Security and fraud prevention — authenticate users and protect against abuse.
Legal compliance — comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests.
4. How We Share Your Information — Third Parties
We share data with the following service providers and partners:
AWS (hosting, infrastructure, and authentication) — hosts the App and stores your data, and provides account authentication (via AWS Cognito), acting as our service provider.
Mixpanel (product analytics) — receives app usage and event data, device information, and your email address as an event property tied to actions such as account registration and profile creation, used for app-improvement analytics.
Google Gemini (dynamic content generation) — receives your dog's astrological signs and related profile inputs, and (for compatibility features) your own astrological sign, to generate personalized written content. Data is minimized and not used to train Google's models.
Meta (advertising and user acquisition) — we share limited data with Meta to target advertising and measure campaign performance. Currently this consists of first name and email address, used for interest-based and broad audience targeting within Meta's platform.
We do not sell your data for money, and we do not share your dog photos with third parties except as needed to store and display them to you.
5. Advertising and Tracking (iOS)
If you allow tracking when prompted (Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt), we and Meta may use your device's advertising identifier to measure and target advertising. If you decline, we do not use your advertising identifier for cross-app tracking, and advertising measurement relies on Apple's privacy-preserving aggregate reporting instead. You can change this at any time in your device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
6. Website Cookies
Our website uses cookies. Analytics cookies are set only after you accept them via our cookie banner; if you decline, no analytics cookies are stored and advertising and personalization signals are disabled.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account and profile data while your account is active.
When you delete your account, we permanently delete your personal data, owner profile, dog profiles, and quiz responses within 30 days, except data we must keep for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Billing and transaction records are retained for up to 7 years for US tax purposes.
De-identified analytics data that cannot reasonably identify you may be retained for app improvement.
8. Your Privacy Rights (California / CCPA)
California residents have the right to:
Know / access the personal information we collect about you
Delete your personal information
Correct inaccurate personal information
Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information
Because we share data with Meta for advertising, California law treats this as a "sale" or "share." You can opt out at any time using the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" control in the App's settings or contact hello@doggydharma.com with your request.
To exercise access, deletion, or correction rights, use the in-App controls where available or contact us at hello@doggydharma.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
9. Account Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data directly in the App (Settings → Delete Account).
10. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it.
11. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. We will notify you of material changes by posting in the App or by email and updating the "Last Updated" date.
